Gonzalo Eguiguren Gallery lent Luisa Roldán’s Saint Joseph and the Christ Child to Luisa Roldán. Escultora real at the Museo Nacional de Escultura, Valladolid.
Held in the Palacio de Villena from 28 November 2024 to 9 March 2025, the retrospective explored the career of La Roldana, the first woman appointed sculptor to the Spanish royal court.
The gallery’s carved and polychromed wood group formed part of the exhibition, bringing visitors into close contact with the intimate devotional sculpture of her Madrid period.
