At the heart of The Brush of Devotion are the painted cell crosses of María Josefa Sánchez and Clemente Sánchez: intimate works created for private contemplation.
The exhibition brings them into dialogue with paintings by Mateo Cerezo and Diego Valentín Díaz, sculpture by Gregorio Fernández, alabaster reliefs, a Mexican gold rosary and a Peruvian silver chest.
