Gonzalo Eguiguren Gallery lent two important works to Bosch e un altro Rinascimento at Palazzo Reale, Milan, from 9 November 2022 to 12 March 2023: Leonardo Flores’s The Last Judgement and The Pangolin Fan from Kotte, Sri Lanka.
Lent by Gonzalo Eguiguren Gallery, this Last Judgement was the only work of Spanish American viceregal art in Bosch e un altro Rinascimento. Its inclusion in the “Apocalyptic Visions” section demonstrated the reach of the Boschian tradition in the Americas and the role of Flemish prints in transmitting and transforming its imagery.
Gonzalo Eguiguren Gallery lent The Pangolin Fan to Bosch e un altro Rinascimento, where it featured in the section devoted to curiosity and encyclopaedic collecting. Within an imagined cabinet of wonders, the fan helped explain the courtly taste for extraordinary creations that the exhibition placed in dialogue with the world of Hieronymus Bosch.
