Eight loans to Bateas novohispanas. Una encrucijada cultural

Gonzalo Eguiguren Gallery has lent eight works to Bateas novohispanas. Una encrucijada cultural at the Museo de América, Madrid. Inaugurated on 21 May 2026 and open to the public from 22 May to 18 October 2026, the exhibition explores cultural exchange through the lacquered trays of New Spain and related works of painting, silverwork and decorative art.

The loans bring together works by Bartolomé de Arenas and José Manuel de la Cerda, Mexican silverwork, lacquer from Pátzcuaro and Peribán, painted bateas and a plate decorated with barniz de Pasto.
