This richly worked presentation tray combines an indented oval outline with scallop shells, sinuous stems, flowers and broad leaves. Its ornament is executed in shallow repoussé and bright-punched silver. The marks include the Mexico City locality stamp, an eagle on a nopal cactus and the assayer's name FVENTE, supporting a date of 1673–1687. Cristina Esteras identifies the piece as a domestic presentation tray, distinguishing its function from that of a barber's basin.
