In his study of the work, Alberto Velasco González places it within the late career of Domingo Ram and discusses the participation of his workshop in Calatayud.
Saint Bartholomew holds the knife of his martyrdom and an open book, while restraining a chained demon at his feet. The richly patterned mantle, gilded background and tiled pavement reflect the visual language of late Gothic painting in Aragon. Four other compartments from the same altarpiece are preserved in the Museo de Pontevedra.
